From a very young age, I knew I wanted a career that combined leadership, communication, strategy, and advocacy. At the time, I didn't have the vocabulary to describe it, but I now recognize that I was drawn to business affairs - the intersection of law, administration, public relations, and the sports and entertainment industries.

Growing up, I was often told that I would make a great attorney. My curiosity naturally led me to ask questions, challenge ideas, and search for the reasoning behind decisions. My parents encouraged that curiosity by teaching me the value of research and knowledge. My mother would have me read and research outdated laws, while my father instilled in me the importance of discipline, structure, and service. Those early experiences sparked my fascination with the legal system and ultimately shaped my decision to pursue law school.

My curiosity about law, government, and communication led me to discover three remarkable women who continue to inspire my career aspirations: Shirley Chisholm, Belle Moskowitz, and Victoria Woodhull. Shirley Chisholm - who was one of the very few councilwomen, and the first black woman to run for president taught me fearless leadership and how to commit to public service. She also showed me how law and government can be used to create opportunities for others. Belle Moskowitz, a pioneering political strategist and public relations advisor, reinforced my belief that meaningful leadership often happens behind the scenes through communication, strategy, and relationship-building. Finally, Victoria Woodhull's determination to challenge barriers as the first woman to run for President of the United States reminds me that lasting change begins with the courage to pursue what others believe is impossible.

These women have helped shaped my perspective with the assistance of my experiences and familial advice. I no longer aspire to change a system that has been in place for centuries. Instead, I want to understand it thoroughly including its laws, procedures, institutions, and influence. I want to use this to my advantage to advocate and protect others that have suffered from the injustices of the system, and add improvements to the foundation of the system.

Although my career interests have expanded over the years, one goal has remained constant: becoming an attorney. Whether working in sports and entertainment, corporate law, government, public relations, or executive administration, I have come to realize that attorneys play a critical role in each of these fields. They negotiate contracts, protect intellectual property, advise executives, manage risk, ensure legal compliance, navigate crises, and help organizations make sound strategic decisions. Behind nearly every major business, sports franchise, entertainment company, or public institution is a legal team providing guidance that shapes important outcomes.

This realization is one of the reasons I chose to major in Political Communication with a minor in Business. I wanted to understand not only the law but also the relationships, messaging, and strategic communication that influence organizations and public perception. My experiences working in Louisiana state government have further strengthened my appreciation for how law, policy, administration, and communication work together to support effective leadership.

As I prepare for law school, I am excited by the opportunity to build a career that bridges these disciplines. Whether advising a professional sports organization, representing entertainment clients, supporting corporate leadership, or serving in government, my goal is to use legal knowledge as a strategic tool to help organizations solve problems, protect their interests, and create meaningful opportunities for the people they serve.
