Choosing to attend Louisiana State University meant leaving my hometown and stepping outside my comfort zone to pursue greater opportunities. Although I completed one Interior Design course, it expanded my appreciation for creativity, visual storytelling, and intentional design. The experience reminded me that successful organizations communicate not only through words but also through the environments, branding, and experiences they create. It strengthened my attention to detail and reinforced the value of thinking from multiple perspectives when solving problems.

From Classroom to Career: Applying Academic Foundation to Career
Looking back at my transcript, I don't just see a list of courses or letter grades - I see a story of growth, resilience, and discovery. Every semester challenged me in a different way, helping me develop the knowledge, discipline, and perspective that continue to shape both my academic and professional journey.

Every course on my transcript represents more than a credit earned - it represents another step toward the career I have envisioned for myself. From the beginning of my college journey, I intentionally selected a degree path that would prepare me for opportunities where law, business, communications, government, sports, and entertainment intersect. Looking back, I can see how each class has contributed to the professional I am becoming and how those lessons continue to shape my work today.

My Political Communication curriculum has taught me that organizations succeed because of effective leadership and communication. Courses such as Political Communication, Media & the Political Process, Political Communication Research, and Political Communication Writing strengthened my ability to analyze information, communicate strategically, conduct research, and understand the relationship between public perception, policy, and leadership. These are the same skills attorneys rely on when advocating for clients, public relations professionals use to protect an organization's reputation, broadcasters use to tell compelling stories, and executives depend on when making important decisions.

My communication courses - including Media Writing, Visual Communication, Social Media Branding, Introduction to Public Relations, Mass Media Law, and Media Ethics & Social Responsibility - have reinforced my belief that communication is one of the most valuable professional skills regardless of industry. Whether representing a law firm, producing content for a sports organization, managing corporate communications, or working in government, success depends on building trust, communicating with integrity, and understanding your audience. These courses strengthened my writing, presentation, creativity, and strategic thinking while introducing me to the responsibilities of professionals working behind the scenes in media, public relations, and broadcasting.
My Business minor has provided the operational perspective that complements my communication background. Through Business Law, Marketing, Accounting, Economics, and Management Information Systems, I gained insight into how organizations operate, make financial decisions, manage risk, and achieve long-term success. These courses have been especially valuable because they mirror many of the responsibilities found in business affairs, legal operations, executive administration, and corporate leadership. Understanding both the business and communication sides of an organization allows me to contribute more effectively while preparing for law school and a future career advising organizations from both legal and strategic perspectives.

Even the courses outside my major have shaped my professional mindset. Psychology strengthened my understanding of people and interpersonal relationships - an essential skill when working with clients, executives, athletes, colleagues, or the public. History and International Politics helped me understand how laws, governments, and institutions evolve over time, while Spanish emphasized the importance of communicating across cultures. Courses in Environmental Science, Geography, Interior Design, and mathematics challenged me to think critically, solve problems from different perspectives, and appreciate the value of lifelong learning. These experiences have made me more adaptable and prepared me to work with people from diverse backgrounds and industries.

Perhaps the greatest lesson reflected in my transcript is balance. Throughout college, I have balanced rigorous coursework while building my career in Louisiana state government, gaining hands-on experience that reinforced what I was learning in the classroom. I wasn't simply studying communication, leadership, ethics, and organization - I was applying them every day in a professional environment. That combination has allowed me to graduate with more than academic knowledge; it has given me practical experience, professional maturity, and confidence entering the workforce.

As I prepare to earn my paralegal certification and attend law school, I know that every class has served a purpose. Together, my education and professional experience have prepared me to pursue opportunities in legal services, business affairs, executive administration, public relations, corporate communications, broadcasting, government, sports, and entertainment. Regardless of where my career leads, I hope to be known as someone who communicates with integrity, leads with professionalism, builds meaningful relationships, and uses knowledge to help organizations - and the people they serve - succeed.
